The national 'Design Innovation in Plastics' student design competition is aimed at undergraduate and post-graduate design students from universities and colleges throughout the UK. Students are asked to design a product using polyurethane or polycarbonate, according to the brief given.
Working alongside the West Berkshire Local Authority, Bayer sponsors and hosts the 'Cosmic Challenge' competition to promote the development of creativity in student design and technology work in West Berkshire primary and secondary schools.
Bayer Suitcases
Working with the West Berkshire Education for Business Partnership, Bayer sponsors these 'travelling science kits' which are used by schools throughout West Berkshire. The suitcases have been recently renewed to include 'Stan the Skeleton'. Stan is part of a variety of teaching aids that can be used by teachers for a whole range of curriculum-relevant science-based activities.
BMS Football Challenge
Bayer MaterialScience sponsors an annual six-a-side football tournament for U13s (boys and girls) from West Berkshire schools. This initiative was inspired by the use of Bayer's high performance materials in the equipment used at major sporting events.
