Bayer UK and Ireland employees donate a substantial £2,000 to the Haiti disaster fund

Bayer employee donations doubled for Haiti Disaster Fund

Newbury, January 29, 2010 – Bayer employees from its UK and Ireland sites have dug deep and donated a substantial £2,000 to the Haiti disaster fund.

The company, which has pledged to double any money donated by its employees, will therefore make this upto £4,000. These funds are to be used for projects that will make a sustainable contribution to reconstruction in the disaster areas.

Martin Dawkins, managing director for Bayer UK and Ireland, comments: “It’s fantastic to see how our employees have pulled together and contributed to this worthy cause. It goes to show how we uphold the company values of respect for people and nature.”

On January 18th, Bayer responded to the Red Cross appeal by providing relief in the form of medicines worth around £79,000 (EUR 90,000). Bayer is not directly affected by the earthquake in Haiti as it does not have any employees or offices in the Latin American country.
