Bayer works closely with the Volunteer Centre, West Berkshire, to develop a number of volunteering projects for colleagues.
These have included team challenges at local charities Growing2Gether, Headley, and the Five a Day market garden at Englefield. Wanting to create a lasting legacy, there was also the planting of indigenous trees and shrubs at Goldwell Park, Newbury.
In addition to this, new volunteering projects are to be launched in 2018.
Together for Short Lives
Bayer staff raised almost £26,000 for Together for Short Lives, the UK charity which supports seriously ill children and their families. The team from Bayer’s General Medicine division took part in a swim-cycle-run ‘Try-Athlon’ in July – followed by a big day of fundraising activities, all organised by the participants, to help generate as much cash as possible.
The Bayer team have ongoing annual challenges to raise funds for local charities and previous events include several London to Paris cycles.
