Bayer gives £18,400 to Naomi House and Jacksplace after big summer of fundraising

Bayer has continued another year of dedicated fundraising with donation of a cheque of £18,418 to the hospices, Naomi House and Jacksplace.

Reading, 19 October, 2017: The giant cheque was presented to hospices’ corporate fundraiser, Jill McDonagh, who came to the Reading office to receive it and thank the team.

The money was the culmination of a long summer of fundraising, the highlight of which was a Reading to Paris sponsored cycle ride in June, a three-day journey which saw 35 cyclists conquer 240 miles before arriving at the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris city centre.

Other fundraising activities have continued to bring in cash, including a sale of old office telephones, an auction for a cycle holiday, a raffle, Bring Your Dog to Work Day, and a tuck box scheme.

Head of Bayer’s IT section, Martin Beaver, said: “We set ourselves a stiff target this year, and we’re delighted we’ve been able to reach more than £18,400.  I’m very proud of what we achieved – it was a huge team effort, and every activity no matter how big or small made a valuable contribution.

“What’s most important is that we are helping to make the lives of children and young people and their families a lot better.  We saw that for ourselves when we visited Naomi House on day one of our cycle ride – that really brought it home to us what we were cycling for.”

Jill McDonagh, added: “As always, Bayer has truly gone above and beyond and we are so tremendously grateful for their fundraising efforts. Over the years they have raised over £120,000, which is enough to pay for three full weeks of care.  That’s an outstanding achievement”.
