What’s New at Baylab - Autumn Term 2026
Welcome to a new academic year at Baylab. We’re excited to share new workshops, milestones and opportunities for your students.
Work experience opportunities
We’ve seen a huge rise in demand for work experience and lab experience outside of our term-time programmes. Looking ahead, we’re delighted to be working with Futures for All again for our 2026–2027 work experience weeks. Official dates and application details will be released towards the end of the autumn term, as the placements will take place in 2027.
We also have a new work experience lab day, CRISPR-Cas gene editing in corn, with lab days running during the October half-term.
Students will explore how CRISPR-Cas works, understand the specificity of guide RNA, and see why choosing the right corn variety is essential. In the lab, they’ll investigate disrupting the SH2 gene to create super sweet corn, building their practical skills, from micropipetting to gel electrophoresis.
If this sounds like something you’d like to explore, keep an eye on this page work experience for when booking links go live.
Baylab 10-year milestone on the horizon
Baylab turns 10 this spring! In March, Baylab will be celebrating 10 incredible years of inspiring young people through hands-on science. If Baylab has shaped your journey in any way, supported your work within school, influenced your career or simply given you a great day, as a teacher, parent or student, we’d love to hear from you. Share your stories with us at baylabinfo@bayer.com. We’re looking forward to celebrating with you.
Computer Science and AI course ages 11-14
New computer science and AI programme. We’re piloting an exciting course for students aged 11 to 14, focused on computer science and AI skills. This course is a series of visits run over the academic year, designed to develop students’ understanding of coding, computer science and AI through robot building and machine learning. Funding will be available to support travel and attendance across all dates. If your school is interested in finding out more, please get in touch at baylabinfo@bayer.com.
