What’s New Summer 2025

Baylab 2025 - Code and create

Home School Baylab Bookings
At Baylab, we are committed to supporting all young people, regardless of their background or educational pathway. To better accommodate homeschooling families, we have transitioned to hosting homeschool sessions during designated weeks at the beginning of each half term, rather than throughout the entire term.

Lab Coat Competition
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's Lab Coat Competition! The winners will be announced on our website under the page "Baylab Labcoat Competition 2025 | Bayer United Kingdom." This year’s theme was Robotics, and we thoroughly enjoyed reviewing your designs and ideas on how robots can simplify everyday tasks and enhance critical areas such as global warming, healthcare, and food supply.

New Workshop Launch
We are excited to announce the launch of our new Code and Create workshop in partnership with Ignite Hubs.

Did you know that over a third of young people aren’t studying digital or tech subjects beyond Key Stage 3? Yet, more than 80% of jobs now require digital skills. We are facing a significant digital skills gap, with the demand for skills in AI and coding projected to cost the economy around £63 billion in potential GDP.

To address this, we are introducing our Code and Create workshop. LEGO serves as a universal language to teach a wide range of skills—from creativity and problem-solving to collaboration—and has even been shown to support mental well-being. Our workshops, utilizing LEGO Spike Prime, introduce students to the basics of block coding and progress to more advanced languages like Python. These sessions extend beyond the classroom, allowing students to continue their coding journeys through Ignite Hubs’ diverse offerings of online and in-person learning.

Our goal is to make these sessions engaging and fun while opening up access to coding opportunities. We aim to promote positive screen time, break down barriers to learning code, and ensure that everyone—regardless of background or experience—feels welcome and capable of succeeding.

International CSR Award
We are also thrilled to announce that Baylab has received a CSR award for our commitment to the community. We are honoured to be recognised for our efforts in providing opportunities and breaking down barriers for young people. We look forward to receiving our award at St. Paul’s on June 30th.
