New Workshops
Digital Coding Workshop
Still fresh and already proving popular, our Digital Coding Workshop is quickly becoming a favourite with both homeschools and schools. It blends essential life skills like teamwork and problem-solving with computing and coding know-how, giving students practical experience that builds digital confidence for the future.
Coming Soon: Gene Editing & CRISPR
For our sixth form students, we’re developing a brand-new workshop on Gene Editing, with a particular focus on CRISPR technology. This advanced session will introduce one of the most exciting tools in modern science - exploring how it works, its real-world applications, and the ethical questions it raises. This workshop will be ready in the new year, with bookings available for the Summer term 2026.
Lab Coat Competition
As many of you know, Baylab is run by a small but passionate team, and we’ve loved delivering the Lab Coat Competition for the past seven years. The creativity and innovation shown by students has been inspiring.
To ensure we can continue delivering high-quality workshops and work experience programmes, we’ve made the decision to run the Lab Coat Competition on a biannual basis from now on.
That means the next competition will take place in 2027 - and we’re already planning some exciting new themes!
Work Experience
Our next batch of work experience opportunities will run in 2026, giving students the chance to gain first-hand insights into the life sciences industry and develop confidence for their future careers.
We’re thrilled to announce two new partnerships that will help us extend access even further:
- Futuresforall (previously Speakers for Schools) will support promotion and recruitment, helping us reach a wider and more diverse range of young people.
- Ductu Portal will enable us to deliver inclusive SEN work experience opportunities, ensuring that students of all abilities can explore careers in science and take part in meaningful workplace encounters.
Dates for our Work Experience Weeks and Lab Days will be released by October half term - so please keep an eye on this page for updates.
Looking Ahead…
From coding robots to exploring gene editing, Baylab continues to grow and evolve with exciting opportunities for students aged 7-18. Thank you for being part of our journey - we can’t wait to welcome you this autumn and beyond.
